Discover a whole new world at Disney’s Aladdin, the hit Broadway musical, coming to Walton Arts Center March 26-31. From the producer of The Lion King comes a timeless story and a thrilling new production filled with unforgettable beauty, magic, comedy and breathtaking spectacle. It’s an extraordinary theatrical event where one lamp and three wishes make the possibilities infinite. This bold new musical is brought to life by a gold-standard Broadway creative team who have won a cumulative 22 Tony Awards®, and it features all the cherished songs from the Academy Award-winning score and original music, written especially for the stage. 

One of the standout features of Aladdin are the costumes, with each one custom-made specifically for the show. It took Tony-winning costume designer Gregg Barnes eight hours to draw and paint each costume sketch. Meanwhile, 205 people worked on the construction of the 236 costumes and 77 pairs of custom shoes. The fabrics and trims came from all over the world including Morocco, Turkey, India, Uzbekistan, China, Tahiti, Japan, Guatemala, Mexico, France, Italy, England and Germany. During one scene, 38 costume changes take place in under one minute! Jasmine's wedding dress, which features crystal beading, weighs a staggering 18 lbs. Meanwhile, there are 8,644 crystal rhinestones on every single gold finale costume in “Friend Like Me.” 

The North American tour of Aladdin is an impressive feat of logistics. More than 15 tons of scenery and lighting are suspended above the stage, and it takes 75 people to deliver each performance on tour, including actors, stage crew, musicians, dressers, hairstylists and make-up artists. The North American touring production uses nine 53’ long trucks to transport costumes, set pieces and other materials from city to city. 

But it's not just the physical production that makes it such an amazing show. The characters are known worldwide, and the score is both familiar and fresh. Aladdin was the highest-grossing film of 1992 and it has woven itself into popular culture. This is a great show for the whole family to enjoy; kids will see characters they already know and love come to life on stage!
