MJ: The Smash Hit Musical
He is one of the greatest entertainers of all time. Now, Michael Jackson’s unique and unparalleled artistry comes to Walton Arts Center as MJ, the multi–Tony Award®-winning new musical centered around the making of the 1992 Dangerous World Tour. Since its opening on Broadway in 2022, hundreds of thousands of theatergoers have seen the production. Walton Arts Center is excited to bring this show to Northwest Arkansas on its first national tour.
Jamaal Fields-Green plays the title role of MJ after achieving the distinction of being the first and only person to have played the role in all three global productions: on Broadway, on the national tour and in London’s West End.
MJ highlights the artistry of Michael Jackson and strives to engage and entertain audiences all over the nation. The musical focuses on Michael’s life when he was specifically creating the Dangerous World Tour in 1992. This period in Michael’s life is believed to be his artistic peak and this performance contextualizes his creative process and gives theater-goers a deeper look into this musical icon’s mind.

Created by Tony Award®-winning director/choreographer Christopher Wheeldon and two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage, MJ goes beyond the singular moves and signature sound of the star, offering a rare look at the creative mind and collaborative spirit that catapulted Michael Jackson into legendary status.
